AfriSAR preparation with AGEOS and European Space Agency
- Avril, 2015
In April, Simon Lewis attended a preparatory field visit with Gabon’s national space agency (AGEOS) and the European Space Agency (ESA), to prepare for the AfriSAR campaign. This will fly P-band radar and other instruments to assess forest biomass in preparation for the ESA BIOMASS mission, the launch of a P-Band sensor into space in 2020.
The group had meetings in Libreville, and field visits to Lope National Park and Mondah forest, where Simon and Gabon’s national parks service (ANPN) have inventory plots which will be utilised as part of the AfriSAR campaign.
